Margaret Linda Hale

August 27, 1947 - January 25, 2026

Margaret Linda Hale, 78, of Lumberton, died Sunday, January 25, 2026. She was born on August 27, 1947, in Beaumont, to Margaret and R.J Bloomfield.

Margaret Linda Hale was a lifetime resident of Lumberton. She graduated in Beaumont from French High in 1965. Margaret was a well-known hairdresser in the sixties and seventies in Beaumont. She went on to be the very first female ever hired as a gas plant operator at Arco Oil and Gas, which in that time in history was unheard of for a female to hold that position. After retiring from Arco, she poured her life into genealogy research. She played a big role in opening the genealogy library in Kountze and was honored with a plaque in her name at the Kountze County courthouse. Margaret was honored to receive the keys to the city of Hemphill, for all the extensive research she had done in that area. Her children, grandchildren, and sisters meant everything to her. She had a very deep love for animals and everything she did in life came straight from the heart. Margaret set an example for all when it came to giving, may the example she showed in life continue on in each of us.

Survivors include her son, Delbert Glen O‘Haver of Sour Lake; daughter, Monica Elaine Sweeney of The Woodlands; bonus daughters, Patricia Davis of League City, and Dianna Lowe of Port Neches; sisters, Diane Sullivan of Beaumont, and Elaine Wilkerson and her husband, Jay, of Sour Lake; bonus sister, Penny Grant and her husband, Tom; grandchildren, Michael Sweeney, and Katie Sweeney, both of Porter; Devin O’Haver, Derrick O’Haver, Danielle O’Haver, Jayson Davis, Jeremy Davis, Vanessa Davis, Clerisa Findley, Ashlin Lowe, and Dylan Lowe; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, R.J. and Margaret Bloomfield, and husband, William Hale.

Linda’s family and ours grew up in the North end of Beaumont Tx close to each other. Many fun times were had back then. I’m sure she will be missed by her family and friends. From the Toups family condolences to all of Linda’s family.

    Donna Webb Blaisdell says:

Linda was such a special person, so easy to love. Linda was a true friend to many. She had such a generous and caring heart. She loved God, her family, her animals, her friends and her genealogy. I loved visiting with Linda and working on genealogy with her. I love Linda and will miss her dearly. She will be immensely missed by her community, her church, her family and friends, the Hardin County Genealogy Society and all that knew her.
I hate that that I will miss her memorial service, but I will be out of town. My condolences to her family and friends.
