Margaret Mae Pierce Kuhn
Margaret Kuhn passed peacefully in her home at the age of 99, surrounded by her loving daughters and grandchildren. Her departure marked the close of a long, beautiful life devoted to faith, family, and service to others.
Born in Slayton, Texas, and raised in Lubbock, Margaret carried with her the strong values instilled during her early years. She attended Texas Tech University, where her steady spirit became evident to all who knew her. During this time, she met her husband, Frank, beginning a partnership rooted in devotion and shared purpose.
In 1952, Margaret and Frank settled in Beaumont with their first daughter, Carolyn, beginning a deep and lasting connection to the Southeast Texas community. Upon moving to Beaumont, Margaret immediately joined Calder Baptist Church, where she became an active and cherished member. She served faithfully —volunteering, supporting local families, and offering her time and compassion wherever she was needed. Her commitment to service extended beyond the church as well; she was a proud member of the Beaumont Junior Forum, reflecting her dedication to helping others.
Margaret and Frank raised four children—Carolyn, Blake, Sandra, and Judy—each dearly loved. She was a devoted mother, ensuring her children were deeply involved in academics, church activities, and community programs. Yet her calling as a caregiver extended far beyond her own home. She was married for 33 years when she and Frank parted ways. Then For 19 years, until her retirement in 1999, Margaret served as a House Parent at Buckner, where she cared for, guided, and nurtured dozens of children who came to rely on her for stability, comfort, and unconditional love. She often shared that she “called it her home just as those children called it theirs,” a sentiment echoed by the many young lives she shaped. Known lovingly as the heart of the Buckner campus, Margaret left an immeasurable impact on everyone blessed to be in her care.
Her legacy runs deep within Southeast Texas—in the families she supported, the children she raised, the faith she lived out daily, and the kindness she extended to all. Margaret will be remembered always for her steady strength, her gentle compassion, and the unwavering love and wisdom she gave so effortlessly.
She is reunited in heaven with the loved ones who preceded her in death, especially her cherished children, Carolyn and Blake. Her parents, Lillie and Pont Pierce. Her siblings, Betty Lee Roberts and L.D. Pierce and their spouses. She leaves behind a family profoundly grateful for her life—her daughters Sandra and Judy, seven grandchildren and their spouses, fifteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren and counting, as well as her beloved niece and nephews. Her legacy continues to grow through each of them.
A gathering of Margaret’s family and friends will be held at a late date. Memorial contributions may be made to Buckner Children and Family Service, 6358 Phelan Blvd Beaumont, Texas 77706; Calder Baptist Churc,h 1005 11th St Beaumont, Texas 77702, or an organization of one’s choice.

So sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. Y’all were one of the first people I met at the beach. I would check to see if you all were there. I would tell Beau that I am going see Carolyn and the family. Beau is also sending thoughts and prayers.
Judy and I miss you Mom. Just a few weeks ago you shared your last “ditty”. “The world is so fascinating, It is so slow then so fast. We never know what tomorrow will show.” RIP
