Marilyn Yvonne Lyles
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” With those words in her heart, Marilyn Yvonne Lyles began her final journey. As she walked, she saw green pastures and still waters, and she felt her soul restored. Taking the Savior’s hand, she heard Him say, “Do not be afraid. I am with you.” And with peace, she followed Him through the valley of the shadow of death into the house of the Lord, where she will dwell forever.
Marilyn Yvonne Lyles, 88, of Port Neches, died Wednesday, September 10, 2025. She was born on August 27, 1937, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, to Edna Abernathy Stephens and Clyde Stephens.
Marilyn was happiest outdoors, shaping her yard and garden with care, leaving behind blooms and quiet spaces that reflect her own strength and grace.
She was a gifted cook. Her dishes were family favorites, though no one has ever been able to recreate them quite the same. Her cooking carried her special touch, which remains part of her family’s memory and story.
She found joy in friendship, in games of bridge with friends, and in fellowship with her church community. She gave her time generously and lived her values with purpose.
Those who knew her best will remember her as strong, steady, and deeply devoted to her family. Her warmth and love will continue to shape the lives of those she leaves behind.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Lyles; son, Cayce Lyles and his wife, Jennifer; four grandchildren, Cody Lyles; Josie Lyles; Jamie Lyles; and Chelsea Lyles and her husband, Trevor Poppke; great-grandchild, Lyla Poppke; and daughter in-laws; Nuria Lyles, and Deborah Lyles.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Clyde Stephens; sons, Richard Lyles, Jr.; and Mark Lyles; brother, Larry Stephens; and sister, Nancy Stephens.

Marilyn was always a wonderful mom, not only to her sons, but to her sons friends. She always welcome them to her home and made them feel part of their family. She loved each one of them for who they were and always enjoyed having them around. May God bless Dick, Cayce and the entire family.
