Marion Albert Hendrickson

July 29, 1938 - April 6, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Marion Hendrickson, who departed peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, in his home in Mesquite, Texas. He was born on July 29, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the youngest of three children, born to Stephen and Lucille Hendrickson.

Mr. Hendrickson devoted nearly 75 years of his life as a minster of the gospel in the Church of Christ.   In addition to ministry, Mr. Hendrickson was a Bible professor at Ohio Valley College in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Dean of the Williamstown Bible College in Williamstown, West Virginia where he provided training for those who aspired to become ministers, and also did mission work in Wimbledon, England supporting the growth of the Church in that community.

He and his wife Alice, who served faithfully by his side for 50 years until her passing in 2012, were known far and wide for their generosity and servant hearts often giving the last of what they had to help someone who was in need.  Part of the legacy they leave for their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are the servant hearts they instilled within each of them.

Mr. Hendrickson completed a bachelor’s degree from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, multiple master’s degrees, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Abilene Christian University.  Following his time at Harding University, he attended the Memphis School of Preaching.  Mr. Hendrickson was also the recipient of many honors and awards through the years.

For pleasure, Mr. Hendrickson loved to spend time with family, travel, and cook on Friday afternoons in order to share a meal with others in his community and with his Church family.  He also enjoyed teaching a weekly Thursday evening Bible Class for his friends at Christian Care Community in Mesquite, Texas.

Mr. Hendrickson is survived by his children Martha (Steve) Parrott of Oklahoma, Allison (Robert) Quirk of Georgia, and Mark (Nan) Hendrickson of Texas.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Lauren Bond, Kelsey LaGrow, Aaron Parrott, Samuel Hendrickson, Hadyn Hendrickson, and Jordyn Hendrickson.  The legacy of Marion and Alice Hendrickson also lives on within great grandchildren Brooklynn and Blakely Bond and Olivia and Cooper LaGrow.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Hendrickson; his sons John Mark and Paul Stephen; his parents, Stephen and Lucille Hendrickson; and his sisters Vera Ruth Hendrickson and Nadine Hendrickson and brother Eugene Hendrickson.

A memorial service will be held at the Christian Care Community Church of Christ in Mesquite Texas on Friday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m.  On Saturday, April 19th, there will be with a visitation gathering of Mr. Hendrickson’s family and friends at the Winnie-Stowell Church of Christ, 2559 TX-124, Winnie, at 10:30 a.m.  All are welcome to a service honoring Mr. Hendrickson beginning at 11:00, with his interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

Marion was one-off the best people I’ve ever had the privilege to meet. He was kind to everyone. The world has lost the best of hearts. He’s resting with Jesus now.

We at Christian Care Center Mesquite, TX will dearly miss such a fine neighbor, friend, and fellow laborer in the Lord’s Vineyard. He was a gentle, loving soul whose thoughtfulness continues to be felt even in his absence. We rejoice to recall his love and work even as we miss his caring presence. ~Ray
