Mark Richard

July 2, 1960 - August 1, 2021

J. Mark Richard, 61, of Sour Lake, died Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on July 2, 1960, to Verdie Courvelle and Welton Richard, in Opelousas, Louisiana.

Mark married the love of his life in Beaumont, Texas in 1986. Mark and Keri started their family a few years later and had (3) three beautiful children. The family enjoyed busy schedules when their children were younger, always attending a sporting event or game, from baseball and softball to basketball and football. The days were fast and fun and full of excitement. The family took (and enjoyed) many vacations together through the years, visiting The Keys in Florida, the beaches in Alabama, and the snow-covered mountains in Colorado.

Not only was Mark a loving husband, father, and Pops, he had a love for motorcycles and tinkering. He was truly a “Mr. Fix-It” and enjoyed helping whoever he could, whenever he could. His heart belonged to the mountains of Colorado, visiting the beautiful state whenever possible. Old School and Rock ‘N’ Roll music flowed through his veins, forever listening to station 92.5 (even when his kids would complain).

Survivors include his wife, Keri Richard; daughters, Kassie Monse, of Lumberton and Jauqulyn Sonnier and her husband, Ethan, of Mauriceville; son, Jeremiah Richard and his fiancée, Joy Stacey, of Bridge City; sister, Beverly Camden of Centennial, Colorado; brother, William Wayne Richard and his wife, Tonya, of Oakland, Tennessee; sister, Cindy Madrulli and her husband, Pete, of Garland; grandchildren, Blair Monse, Charlie Monse, Cooper Sonnier, Addelynne Sonnier, Ryleigh Richard, and Khylie Chance.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Ronald Richard.

A gathering of Mr. Richard’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake.

    Sam Madrulli Goodgion says:

I am so sorry to learn of Mark’s passing. He was 3 years older than me and my last memory of him is as a young man who built a really tall pickup truck. I can see how he was known as ‘Mr. Fix-it’ and my heart is warmed to see his life was filled with a loving family and a life full of good times. May God bless you all and please know I share in your grief.
    Take care, Sam

Keri, Kassie, Jauqulyn, Jeremiah the love of Marks life , My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you Mark was a very kind and humble man ,Being humble means you do things out of the kindness of your heart, without the expectation of anything in return; even gratitude. I had the honor to be a very close friend to him and his family running off to Basketball game then jumping in the van and off to softball games. He packed the family Van for wild adventures to Astroworld and always inviting us to go!!! . I could go on about his kindness and ability to fix almost anything if you knew you were blessed He will truly be missed. and now he is at peace and no longer in pain . Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
