Martha "Mert" Puckitt

February 22, 1934 - August 1, 2021

Martha “Mert” Puckitt, 87, of Bronson, died Sunday August 1st, at her daughter’s home in Kountze. She was born February 22, 1934, in Woodville, to Lillian Lee and Watler “Leather” Lee.

Martha was a faithful wife of nearly 68 years to her soulmate, Donald Puckitt. Her greatest joys in life included her family, dear friends, shopping, and chocolate desserts. Martha was dedicated to the Lord since a young age. Her prayer life was unmatched as she truly enjoyed her long “chats with God.” Martha was the Matriarch of her family until the very end, a job she did not take lightly. She will be sorely missed by everyone who was blessed enough to be loved by her. 

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Blair and husband David of Gilchrist; Terri Smith and husband, Elvin of Kountze; son, Brian Puckitt and wife Brenda of Kountze; grandchildren, Amber Freeman, Justin Smith, Richelle Johnson, Steven Puckitt, Ryan Puckitt, Cody Puckitt, Tyler Puckitt, Sara Bordages; her beloved 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Brett Puckitt.; sister, Amy Mateki; niece, Sharyl Gould; and nephew, Lee Pryor.  

A gathering of Mrs. Puckitt’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 2021, at First Baptist Church, 112 Timberland Hwy, Pineland, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. The family will gather at a later time for the burial of her cremated body in the Lee Family Plot, Kirbyville City Cemetery, Kirbyville.
