Mary Dale “MeMe” Harris

April 14, 1958 - March 14, 2025

Mary Dale “MeMe” Harris, 66, of Beaumont, died Friday, March 14, 2025, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas. She was born on April 14, 1958, to Peggy McDowell Abbo and Tony Abbo. She was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, and a proud graduate of French High School, Class of 1976.

While in high school, Mary began her career at T. Warren, where she built a strong foundation of dedication and hard work. She later went on to work for Budweiser before continuing her career at Mallard Industrial. Throughout her professional journey, she was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and the genuine connections she made with colleagues and friends.

Mary’s warmth, laughter, and love made the world a brighter place. She was the best mother to her daughter and the most incredible MeMe to her grandchildren and to her abundance of nieces and nephews. She was our rock, our light, and the heart of our family.

She loved the outdoors, the beach, and soaking up the sun—always finding joy in the simple, beautiful moments of life. She was a hard worker by nature, and she played even harder, making sure every moment counted. Her love for her family was fierce, and her grandchildren were the absolute center of her world.

A true prankster, she had a way of turning an ordinary day into an unforgettable one. No one ever left her presence without a smile, and her laughter was as contagious as her love was endless.

Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will never fade. She will forever be the sunshine on our faces, the laughter in our hearts, and the spark that keeps our family going. The party won’t be the same without her, but we’ll carry her joy with us now and forever.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Peggy McDowell; father, Tony Abbo; brother-in-law, Wesley Lamar Huff; and sister-in-law, Sue Abbo.

Survivors include her daughter, Samantha Green; sister, Terri Huff; and brother, Joel Abbo, all of Beaumont; former husband and still good friend, David Harris, of Nederland; nephews, Dustin Huff and Zane, of Winnie; Justin Huff and his wife, Kaye Ellen and Austin Huff and his wife, Kaitlyn, all of Beaumont; Garret Abbo and Brian Abbo, both of Lumberton; and Trevor Abbo and his wife, Jami, of Fannett; niece, Laurie Wheeler and her husband, Jack, of Wimberly; grandchildren, Joseph Hoose and Marley Green; great-nephews, Hank Huff, Jake Huff, Harrison Huff, Dane Huff, Pecos Wayne Abbo, Henry Wheeler, Frank Wheeler, and one on the way, Wesley Huff; and great-nieces, Stella Huff, Mary Sue Abbo, Ruthie Abbo, and Jaycee Abbo.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

I went to French Elementary School with Mary. Always had a smile on her face and pigtails! Hula hoops and Chinese jumpropes were a daily play time at recess. Such a beautiful person.
