Mary Elizabeth Welch

September 15, 1931 - November 25, 2024

Mary Elizabeth Welch, 93, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024. She was born on September 15, 1931, to George Manuel Jones and Ethel Ola Smith Jones, in Dallas.

Mary was a successful Real Estate Broker in El Paso, Texas. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her girlfriends, and enjoyed putting together puzzles and solving crossword puzzles. In her earlier years, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, and sewing.

Mary loved to travel, and she set sail on many cruises with her friends and with her family.  She’s traveled all over the world!  Among her favorite destinations were Alaska, Bali, Ireland, and Vietnam. Mary had a blast “junking” in Germany.

She loved her grandchildren and celebrated her great-grandchildren. Mary loved showing off their photos and smiled the biggest when they were around.

Mary is survived by her children, Rodney Roberts of Canyon Lake; Carl Roberts and his wife, Pam, of Lake Jackson; and Barbara DeYoung of Hamshire; sister, Ada Jane Easley of Lake Jackson; grandchildren, Rodney Roberts, Jr. and his wife, Theresa; Brian Nath and his wife, Mary; Emilie Hill and her husband, Allan; Carl Roberts, Jr. and his wife, Teresa; Cliff Roberts and his wife, Amber; Chris Roberts and his wife, Seslee; Matt DeYoung and his wife, Allison; and Whitney Dreaden and her husband, Joseph; 15 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of friends and extended family through the many years.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Sharon Roberts; son-in-law, Wayne DeYoung; and siblings, Billy Murray Jones, Dorothy Mae Ruddick, Barbara Ann Jones, George Earl Jones, Charles Edward Jones, Hale Manuel Jones, Annette Yvonne Jones, and James Ray Jones.

A gathering of Ms. Welch’s family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., with her funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2024, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie. Her graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Union Cemetery, 157 CR 1213, Sulphur Springs.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to two amazing women, Mary’s caregivers, Tresheca Zachary and Duchess Hooper. May God richly bless for your love, kindness, and patience with our Mom and Granny.
