Mary Maudine Burrows
Mary Maudine Burrows, 85, of Kountze, died Saturday, January 13, 2024. She was born on August 22, 1938, in Kountze, to Velma Lee Ishmael Johnston and Lavern Johnston.
Survivors include her sons, Millard Burrows, Jr. of Egypt, and Randy Burrows and his wife, Kandy, of Dexter, Oregon; grandchildren, Mistie Reed and her husband, Jamieson, of Springfield, Oregon; Rachel Burrows and Sarah Binford and her husband, Chanse, all of Vida, Oregon; Lyndsay Medkiff of Vidor; Stacey Golden of Ohio; Bambi Bentley and her husband, Mark, of Kountze; Beth Brock and her husband, Jonas, of Jasper; and Morgan Burrows of California; numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings; Lavern Glover and her husband, Escar, of Silsbee; Carolyn Brown and her husband, Jackie, of Sour Lake; Charlotte Brown and her husband, Don, of Saratoga; Bo Johnston of Wells; and Bim Johnston of Old Salem.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Millard C. Burrows, Sr.; son, Gregory Lee Burrows; and brother, Foye Johnston.
A gathering of Mrs. Burrows’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2024, at First Baptist Church, 100 West Monroe, Kountze, with her interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.

I can’t recall when Maudine wasn’t in and about Kountze. I have known her all my life. Always a cheerful soul with a smile and a twinkle in her eye.

Maudine was such a sweet lady. I will never forget her laugh or smile. I grew up with her in church and their family was friends with my grandparents Pete and Eula Jordan. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
