Mary Medina

Mary Louise Medina, 81, of Nederland, died Saturday, May 14, 2022. She was born February 26, 1941, in San Antonio, to Salud Acosta Reza and Gerardo Reza, Sr.

Mary worked in the medical field as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for thirty years. In her early years, she enjoyed fishing and cherished the memories made at Crystal Beach every 4^th of July. She and her family would spend a week or two at the beach including her daughters’ friends that became more like her own “adopted” children. Mary also enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her plants and flowers. She was a fabulous cook, and everyone loved her tamales, beans, and rice. Mary was fondly called “Mom” by many.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Medina, of Nederland; daughters, Renee Byrd, of Lumberton; Lisa Durso, of Bridge City; Mickie Willit, of Red Oak; and Carmelita Sparks, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Shanna; April; Amanda; Zach; Haden; Houston; Holden; Michael; and Monica; six great-grandchildren; brother, Gerardo Reza, Jr. and wife, Teresa, of Bridge City; and two nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Myra Reese.

A gathering of Mrs. Medina’s family and friends will be 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12^th Street, Nederland. Her graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m., at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
