Mary Melancon
Mary Melancon, 87, of Hamshire, died Friday, June 2, 2023. She was born on November 20, 1935, in Rayne, Louisana, to John B. Lavergne and Louise Venable.
Survivors include her six children, Louise Belsey and her husband, Richard, of Hamshire; Scotty Melancon and his wife, Sue, of Winnie; Helena Dow and her husband, Troy, of Winnie; Blaine Melancon and his wife, Tammy, of Winnie; Vicky Basye and her husband, Milton, of Pasadena; Lance Melancon and his wife Maggie, of Sugarland; eight grandchildren, Chris Goodwin, Erin Hayman, Nick Dow, Chace Dow, Morgan Sossamon, Max Melancon, Alex Basye, and Laura Basye; four great-grandchildren, Gage Howard, Madaline Hayman, Everly Dow, and Rowan Sossamon; and her three siblings, Gloria Comeaux, Cynthia Comeaux, and Tony Lavergne.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clovis Melancon; and two grandchildren, Charlie Howard and Brandon Howard.
A gathering of Mrs. Melancon’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with her funeral service to follow at 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 5, 2023, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
