Mary Montalbano Baldwin

October 6, 1944 - August 7, 2025

Mary Montalbano Baldwin, 80, of Beaumont, died Thursday, August 7, 2025. She was born on October 6, 1944, in Beaumont, to Minnie Morrell and Vincent Frank Montalbano.

Today, we gather to celebrate the life of our beloved Granny — a woman who lived with her whole heart, her whole voice, and her whole spirit.

Granny was full-blooded Italian, and she carried that heritage with pride. She was outspoken, brutally honest, and quick to tell you exactly what she thought — but always, always out of love. If she had something to say, you could bet it came from a place of caring, even if it came with a little fire. Her short fuse was legendary, but so was the tenderness that came right after it.

She absolutely adored her family — especially her grandchildren. If one of them wanted something, it didn’t matter how far she had to go or what she had to do — Granny made it happen. She loved hosting family gatherings, decorating every corner, filling the house with music, and of course, cooking enough food to feed an army. Her kitchen was a place of magic — the smells, the flavors, the love that went into every dish. She was a phenomenal baker and cook, and she made sure no one ever left her table hungry.

Music was another constant in her life. From Sinatra to Elvis, the Rat Pack to big band, and even classic country Thursday night, Granny’s playlists were a soundtrack of timeless joy. And when it came to a good party, she could outlast anyone. It didn’t matter if it was midnight or 4 a.m., Granny was still there — laughing, talking, making sure everyone was having a good time.

She was warm, inviting, and happiest when her family was near. She celebrated family any chance she had — holidays, birthdays, or simply a Thursday evening. Granny taught us that love isn’t just a feeling — it’s an action. It’s in showing up, in cooking a favorite meal, in telling the truth when you need to hear it, and in being there until the very end of the night.

Before we close, our family wants to give a heartfelt thank you to Enhabit Hospice. The care, tenderness, and compassion they provided to Granny in her final days meant more than we can put into words. They made her transition comfortable, not only for her, but for all of us who loved her so deeply. We will forever be grateful for their kindness and support — they will always have a place in our hearts.

Granny loved with all her heart, and she leaves behind a legacy of family, food, music, and unconditional love. Though we will miss her fiercely, we carry her spirit in every gathering, every laugh, every song, and every shared meal. And in that way, she will always be with us.

Survivors include her children, Cory Baldwin and his wife, Marty, of Vidor, and Kim Guidry of Beaumont; grandchildren, Tasha Armstrong and Fiancé, Kevin, of Orange; Cordale Baldwin of Orange; Chelsie East and her husband, Clay, of Vidor; and Amy Holland and husband, Tony, of Buna; great-grandchildren, Colton, Trinity, Divinity, Kirra, Eliza, Charlotte, Carson, and Asher; and numerous friends and extended family through the years.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Vincent Montalbano, Jr.

A gathering of Ms. Baldwin’s family and friends will begin 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 11, 2025, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.

Pulled my BHS Class of ’62 annual and your sweet mother had signed her name. She was a fun loving student and brought laughter to all of us. If I’m not mistaken she also went to David Crockett Jr. High. I’m sorry for your loss but feel she left all she knew w/kindness and recognition. My prayers go out to all of you.

I’m really going to miss this sweet lady. We’ve had some great times together. One year she decided she wanted to cook spaghetti for the band. I told her we’ll buy everything and have it at our house. So off we go to the grocery store, buy everything we needed and the next day it was go time. After rolling 99 meatballs, and her fixing the spaghetti and sauce, nobody left hungry. We laughed all the time about those 99 meatballs. I’ll forever remember that special moment and so many more. Miss you Mary Ann.
