Mary Nell Hayes Maxwell

September 1, 1932 - January 7, 2023

Mary Nell Hayes Maxwell was born September 1, 1932, in Urania, Louisiana, to Bunyon and Carrie Hayes. She fell asleep in death January 7, 2023, at the age of 90.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Maxwell McKinney and husband, Ed of Lumberton; Melanie Maxwell Rivers of Beaumont; one granddaughter, Karissa Rokovich of Austin; four grandsons, Matthew Rokovich and his wife, Theresa, of Houston; Nathan Rivers and his wife, Nina, of Lumberton; Chris Rivers and his wife, Aimee, of Lumberton; and Paden Rivers and his wife, Patty, of Yoakum; three great-granddaughters; and four great grandsons.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Luther Hayes, Stanley Hayes, Myrle Dearmon, and Joanne Wiggins; husband, Glen Maxwell; daughter, Marilyn Maxwell Williamson; and great-grandson, Gavin Rivers.

Mary and Glen were married August 6, 1948, and shared many happy memories until his death in May 2009. They enjoyed studying the Bible together and with others and were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1957. Mary loved being a homemaker and was an excellent cook, seamstress, and found much joy in providing hospitality to her friends and family.

She spent many hours in sharing the good news of God’s Kingdom and blessings it has in store for this earth, including the coming resurrection of all those in the memorial tombs.

A private family graveside will be held at China Cemetery, China, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
