Mason Tyler Shofner

Mason Tyler Shofner, 38, of Waco, died Saturday, February 22, 2025. He was born on January 13, 1987, in Silsbee, Hardin County, Texas, to Kelly Bright and James W. Shofner, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ray Bright of Port Arthur, and Catherine “Cathy” Charping of Athens, Louisiana, and mother Kelly Jo Bright of Evadale, and paternal grandparents, James W. Shofner, Sr. and Betty Mae Gill of Buna.

Survivors include his father, James “Bear” Shofner of Evadale; daughter, Jayda Grace Shofner of Choudrant, Louisiana; step-daughter Alexis “Lexi” Bayne of Ruston, Louisiana; brother, Zachary Shofner of Evadale; step-siblings, Kasey Sonnier of Vidor; Brittany Nix and husband, Richard, also of Vidor; Kristen Vetter and wife, Sabrina of Seattle, Washington; and Jace McGee of Vidor; Aunt Judy Shofner of Waco; and Aunt Kay Wade of Jasper; Uncle Josh Bright and wife Amber, of Santa Fe New Mexico; Uncle Ray Bright and wife Sandra, Payson Arizona, and a host of friends and loved ones who will miss him greatly.

Mason’s cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in the Evadale area.

Mason’s family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorials in Loving Memory of Mason Shofner, be donated for his daughter Jayda. Cremation expenses have been covered and any remaining funds will be placed in Jayda’s fund as well to be managed until she is of age. Thank you to Chelsea Hoke and the Evadale Class of 2005 for gathering funds. And thank you to everyone who is able to donate and help Jayda as she goes forward in life with Mason’s memory.
