Matthew Louis Rushing
Matthew Louis Rushing, 44, of Mauriceville, died Monday, February 24, 2025. He was born on September 9, 1980, in Beaumont, to Veronica Benoit Rushing and Gary Alan Rushing.
Matthew completed his formal education earning a Doctorate of Medicine from Ross University but his passion for learning never ceased. He chose a career in Radiologic Technology specializing in cardiovascular and brain catheterization. Highly skilled and revered in his field, he graciously shared his talent and knowledge with all his colleagues. His family bypassed Google because Matthew was a storehouse of information.
He had an abundance of friends who cherished his kind, witty, old soul: a “ride or die” to many. However, Matthew’s best friend and mentor was his father, Gary. Together they fished, hunted, played chess, read encyclopedias, and reveled in each other’s distinct humor. They had their own language.
Survivors include his wife, LaTricia Rushing, mother, Veronica Benoit Rushing; daughter, Kori Rebecca Rushing; stepchildren, Keileigh Cunningham and her husband, Joseph, Samantha Pevey, and Joshua Powell; sisters, Tonya Davis and her husband, Bo Jack, and Lisa Saulsberry and her husband, Chad; nieces and nephews, Cole Davis; Jack Davis; Sawyer Davis; Carissa Hernandez and her husband, Josh; and Paige Saulsberry; great-niece, Emma Hernandez; great-nephew, Elijah Hernandez; step grandson, Alexander Cunningham; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, and grandparents.
A gathering of Mr. Rushing’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with his Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2025, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.
In keeping with his generous spirit and commitment to healthcare, Matthew’s final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
