Melissa “Melly” Simmons

Melissa “Melly” Simmons, 41, of Port Arthur, died Thursday, July 14, 2022, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. She was born on February 9, 1981, to Cheryl Elaine Allen Simmons and Charles Michael Simmons, in Beaumont. Melissa was artistic, loved music, and loved to write stories and keep a journal. She loved to travel and see new things but, most of all, she loved animals, especially dogs and cats. Melissa was a 1999 graduate of Lumberton High School where she played trumpet for one year in the marching band. She took 3 years of French and was the French Club “Sweetheart” for her junior year homecoming. Melissa attended Lamar University in Beaumont.

Survivors include her mother, Cheryl Elaine Simmons of Lumberton; brother, Allen M. Simmons of League City; daughter, C.M. “Dani” Simmons of Lumberton; half-brother, Cliff McCroskey of Thibodaux, Louisiana; boyfriend, Caleb Countryman of Port Arthur; uncle, C. Edward “Ed” Allen II; aunt, Tina Allen; and cousins, Leah Allen and Tristian Fuller, all of Silsbee; cousin, Nevaeh “Nevi” of Port Arthur; aunt and uncle, Liz and Glenn Cox; and cousin, Richard Cox, all of Austin.

She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Michael Simmons; maternal grandparents, Chester E. and Betty L. Allen, of Vandalia, Ohio; uncle, Keith L. Allen of Tipp City, Ohio; paternal grandparents, C.E. “Jack” Simmons of Silsbee and Zimmie Hazel Bates Simmons of Port Arthur; and paternal uncles, C.E. “Jack” Simmons, Jr., C.L. Simmons, and Paul Simmons.

A gathering of Ms. Simmon’s family and friends will be from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705; Beaumont Animal Care, 1884 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703; or your local Humane Society.

    It breaks my heart that you left this world so soon sweet Melly. You always had so much love and caring inside of you ready to give.
    I am saddened by your sudden departure and my deepest condolences to your family and loved ones. I am unable to come to the gathering today but am spending time thinking about you and will make a donation in your honor. Journey well into the next life. You never know, we may meet again someday.
