Melvin Hugh Henslee

March 21, 1941 - September 15, 2021

Melvin Hugh Henslee, 80, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, September 15, 2021. He was born on March 21, 1941, in Beaumont, to Helen Vida Schuldt and Herbert Melvin Henslee.

Melvin was a United States Army veteran and was a retired operator with Mobil Oil. After his retirement, Melvin stayed busy. If he wasn’t mowing his yard or tinkering with something in his shop, you could usually find him fishing in his boat at Lake Sam Rayburn or telling some good stories to one of his many long-time buddies at The Stump, where he spent many weekends over the years. Melvin enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Whether he was in the stands at a basketball game or in a rodeo arena, he enjoyed cheering on and supporting his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Libbie Dishman and her husband, Rodney; Vickie Bottoms; and Shanna Rothkamm and her husband, Steve; and sisters, Janie Landrum and Carolyn Zampana, all of Beaumont; grandchildren, Kohl Neel and his wife, Sarah, of Houston; Josey Dishman and his wife, Ashlyn; Taylor Cousins and her husband, Andrew; Lauren Bottoms; and Missy Bottoms, all of Beaumont; Cassidy Rivers and her husband, Dylan, of Mont Belvieu; and Logan Bottoms, of Beaumont; great-grandchildren, William, Beckett, Jack, Kate, Baker, Ireland, Ryce, Legend, Drake, and Heidi (on the way).

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille Margaret Henslee; and grandson, Grady Rothkamm.

A gathering of Mr. Henslee’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2021, at Broussard’s 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s, Crematorium, Beaumont.

    Melvin was 1 year ahead of my brother, but I knew him well. Always friendly to everyone. Lot of fun to be around and practice with on the court. RIP Melvin, prayers for your family.
