Marie Merjie Dore’ Breaux, 97, of Port Acres, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022, at her home. She was born on April 5, 1924, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, to Jeanne Melancon Dore’ and Abel Dore’.

Merjie was a member of St. Therese, The Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church. She will be remembered as a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, and daughter. Merjie had a deep love for God and her church family and lived her life as a Christian. Her husband was her joy of life and lived a blessed and full life with him for many years. She enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and traveling internationally. She appreciated a well-kept home and yard and always had a garden. Merjie had a joyful laugh and always had a smile to share, especially when Curley would tell a mischievous story. She loved to cook and enjoyed company when it was time to eat and had to have dessert and coffee after her meal.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Gerald Earl Breaux, Jr. and his wife, Angie, of Port Arthur; Missy Breaux of Orange; Ronald Dale Breaux, Jr. and his wife, Staci, of Bridge City; and David Allen Breaux of Orange; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curley J Breaux; sons, Gerald Earl Breaux, Sr. and Ronald Dale Breaux Sr.; grandchild, Joseph Lawrence Breaux; and her sister, Lucy Joyce Dore’.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Merjie’s primary caregivers, Roberta Cezar and Dorothy Hornbeak, for their compassion and friendship while caring for Merjie.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 4560 Highway 87 S. Orange, Texas.
