Michael Moreno, Sr.

September 29, 1930 - August 22, 2018

Michael Castillo Moreno, Sr., 87, of Nederland, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018. He was born on September 29, 1930, in Port Arthur, to Leonidez Castillo Moreno and Tereso O. Moreno.

Michael was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from Texaco after forty-one years of service.

Survivors include his children, Vicki Villarreal and her husband, Geraldo; Diana Cortez and her fiancé, Gordon LeJunie; Mary Kay Imhoff and her husband, Cam; Michael C. Moreno, Jr. and his wife, Terri; and Michelle Solis and her husband, Roberto, Jr.; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Johnny Moreno and Anthony Moreno; and sister, Socorro Trudy Willett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of sixty-three years, Rosie Moreno; daughter, Frances Longoria; brothers, Victor Moreno, Sr., Rudy Moreno, and Dan Moreno, Sr.; and sisters, Victoria Moreno, Eppie Elizondo, Delia Moreno, and Rose Moreno Bartley.

The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to Anita Andrus for her extraordinary care during Michael’s stay at Gulf Health Care Center.

A gathering of Mr. Moreno’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 26, 2018, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2018, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3648 S Sgt. Lucien Adams Drive, Port Arthur, with his interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.

I am so sorry for your loss. I went to HS with Rosie and reconnected with her and met Mike when I worked at Mid Jeff Hospital, and he and Rosie volunteered there. He was always so nice and sweet. He will be missed.
