Mitchell Eugene Wheeler

Mitch Wheeler, 55, of Winnie, died Saturday, May 1, 2021. He was born on September 3, 1965, in Houston, to Margaret “Bunny” Camp and Larry Eugene Wheeler. Mitch was an equipment operator for Savage Services.

He had several hobbies, such as cooking on his pit. Mitch loved spending time working on his property, it was also his favorite place to fish. He also enjoyed taking pictures of the sunsets and sharing them with his family.

Survivors include his mother, Margaret “Bunny” Wheeler; wife of twenty-nine years, Karen Bertrand; son, James Wheeler; daughter, Amanda Wheeler and her husband, David Lail; stepdaughters, April Bertrand and her husband, Jay Floyd; and Ashley Wilson; stepson, T.J. Bertrand, and his wife, Chelsea; seven grandchildren; sister, Crystal Salyer and her husband, Scott; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mitch is preceded in death by his father, Larry Wheeler; son, Anthony Wheeler; and sister, Rachell Wheeler Krauser.

A gathering of Mr. Wheeler’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Broussard’s, 134 Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, with a time of sharing to begin at 7:00 p.m. Cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
