Monroe Jenkins

April 22, 1952 - November 11, 2021

Monroe Jenkins, 69, of Silsbee, died Thursday, November 11, 2021.  He was born on April 22, 1952, in Woodville, to Maudie Peterson Jenkins and John Jenkins. Monroe proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

 

He retired as a welder after over forty years of service. Monroe enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and cooking.  He will be remembered for being a hardheaded, stubborn, yet kind and loving friend, father, brother, and PawPaw.

Survivors include his daughters, Melissa Jenkins and her husband, Glen Crocker, of Lumberton and Megan Lamb and her husband, Jerrett, of Bandera; son, Roe Jenkins of Silsbee; grandchildren, Kaylee, Keaton, McKenzy, Ella, Jalyn, and Garrison; brothers, Steve Harville of Silsbee and Hank Jenkins and his wife, Eloise, of Town Bluff; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dolly Hollyfield, Thelma “Tootie” Clowers, Ruthie Fregio, and Addie “Tiny” Wilson; and brothers, Pete, Tharp “Bud”, Bill, and Hill Jenkins.

Monroe’s graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 15, 2021, at Franks Branch Cemetery, Fred, under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.

    Monroe was a member of the 1970 Silsbee graduating class. I remember him as quiet, who was polite and stayed out of trouble. Not everyone can say that.
