Myrtle Ruth Perkins, 101, of Nederland, died March 20, 2026. She was born on February 10, 1925, in Castor, Louisiana to Willie and Nanny Bishop.

Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Austin and her husband, Kerry.

Grandchildren include, Talmadge Austin and his wife Theresa, Blaine Austin, Daryl Pool and his wife Nita, Lance Pool and his wife Stephanie, Bruce Pool and his wife Stacy.

Great-grandchildren include, Dylan Austin and his wife Elizabeth, Evan Guidry and her husband Reid, Morgan Creader and her husband Steven, Caitlin Pokraka and her husband Corey, Cara Garza and her husband A.J., Colton Austin, Avery Pool, Zachary Pool, Meagan Shippey and her husband Matt, Matthew Pool and his wife Emili, Kaylah Ramirez, Madison Vacek and her husband Jackson, Lance Pool, Jr., Lacen Pool, Chrisha Pool, Justin Pool, and Tanner Pool.

Great-great grandchildren including, Nolan Austin, Tate Austin, Payton Austin, Beckett Pokraka, Bryson Pokraka, Emma Garza, Ender Garza, Ezra Garza, Kove Guidry, Kamp Guidry, Maci Shippey, Anzlie Shippey, Ellyette Shippey, Milo Flores, Kinsley Flores, Malaki Flores, Jayden Pool, Karson Pool, Cameo Pool, Camden Pool, and Savannah Pool.

Myrtle is preceded in death by her husband, Grady E. Perkins; parents, Willie and Nanny Bishop; daughter, Linda Pool; and sisters, Hazel Smith and Willie Mae Touchstone.

A gathering of Ms. Perkins family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2026, with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th street, Nederland. Her interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

    Mrs. Myrtle Mr Grady and Linda were very dear to me i wk. here at the medical center hospital from the 1st day i meet them i feel in love with them They would cll me their daughter and Linda would say say i was her sister i remember when Mr Grady Pass Mrs Murtly and linda call me i went over to there jouse a nd met a few grand kids i went to the funeral and of course i was the only black them when Linda died it broke my Heart so bad i would visit Mrs Myrtle at the nursing home Im am so sorry to here about the passing of Mrs Myrtle I love here so much she will be Miss
