Nita Fay Nolen

April 18, 1940 - February 9, 2023

Nita Fay Nolen, 82, of Silsbee, died Thursday, February 9, 2023.  She was born on April 18, 1940, in Newton, to Winona Rose Clemson Fullen and John Burtis Fullen.  Nita was the owner and operator of West Texas Style Bar-B-Que, Silsbee.

Survivors include her children, Saundra Moak of Silsbee; Alma Byars and her husband, Rocky, Sr., of Silsbee; and Russell Paul Trick, Jr. and his wife, Bobette, of Plum Ridge; grandchildren, Wyatt Cole Trick and Gracie Trick of Plum Ridge; Lindsey Byars of College Station; Bridgette Kelly and her husband, Justin, of Tallahassee, Flordia; and Rocky Byars, Jr. and his wife, Paulina, of Atlanta, Georgia; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Annette Betz and her husband, James and John Bertis Fullen, Jr. and his wife, Mary Lou, all of Newton; and sister-in-law, Joyce McGill of Silsbee.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, “Chockie” Nolen; grandson, Justin Thompson; son-in-law, Billy Moak; and sisters, Ruth Bell and Alice Fullen.

A gathering of Mrs. Nolen’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2023, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  Her interment will follow at Quicksand Cemetery, Newton.

    So sorry for the entire family. West Texas BBQ was a fixture of Silsbee which we all love and miss. Just like we will miss Ms Nita.
    She never said much but Alma took up the slack.

    We are from Kirbyville but have purchased many ponds of BBQ,Turkey and smoked links over the years from the business. She and her daughter were both hard working and kind, no matter what the sign says. We lost our mother a year ago and know it’s hard to lose a loved one especially a mother.
