Odessa Cooper

Odessa Alejandra Cooper, 68, of Nederland, died Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born May 1, 1953, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to Rosa Angelica Duran and Salomon Borjas, Sr.

Odessa was devoted to serving her community. She was a volunteer for the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention, a seven-year volunteer with the American Red Cross, and a fourteen-year volunteer with The Salvation Army.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Cooper, Sr.; sons, Benjamin “Rian” Cooper and Buddy Cooper and wife, Mindy; grandchildren, Jasmine Macalya Cooper; Grayson Marie Cooper; Portlan Reeve Cooper; and Valex Rayne Cooper; sisters, Linda Jannette Galo Reyes and husband, Dr. Ruben Reyes and Belinda Borjas Garcia; brothers, Fausto Francisco Galo Borjas and Salomon Reynieri Borjas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded by her parents and brother, Sergio Danilo Borjas Garcia.

A memorial service for Mrs. Cooper will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Freedom Christian Fellowship, 1413 Port Neches Avenue, Port Neches. Her cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.

    I’m sorry to hear about Odessa. She was such a sweet, Christian lady. We went to church together at Fellowship. Our son went on a missions trip to Honduras with her and others from the church. Larry and her family are in my prayers.
