Orvis Lee Lewis, Jr.

October 7, 1944 - December 4, 2021

Orvis Lee Lewis, Jr., 77, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2021, under the care of Professional Home Health Care and Hospice and the staff of College Street Health Care Center. He was born on October 7, 1944, to Orvis and Ida Lewis, in Beaumont.  Orvis was a proud member of the United States Army having served in active duty during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, Orvis became a journeyman electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 479. Orvis also became a member of the Masonic Lodge #286, becoming a Master Mason in January 1979.

Orvis married the love of his life, Barbara, in 1977 and was a proud father of five children. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed camping with his children, coaching his daughter’s softball teams, and vacationing each year with his children, wife, and in-laws. Orvis had three great passions in his life. He loved to spend time with his father and best friends at his deer camp in West Texas. He loved working in his garden spending time outside an on his tractor. Finally, he adored his grandchildren and spending time with them. He was honored to be their Dado and worked to make sure he was an active grandparent and was present in their lives.

Orvis was preceded in death by his parents, Orvis and Ida Lewis; his brother, Bruce Steven Lewis; and his father and mother-in-law, Don and Billie McCoy.

Orvis is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Lewis; his children, Bryan Murley of Charleston, IL; Dawn Schwaab of Beaumont; Lori Ramer and husband, Tommy, of China; Kerri Toups and husband, Anthony, of Nederland; and Monica Zoch and husband, Keith, of Spurger; nine grandchildren, Justin Ramer; Brentten and Logen Schwaab; Sean, Annabel and Elisabeth Murley; Ethan Toups; Heith and Vivian Zoch; and great-grand-daughter, Ava Toups.

A gathering of Mr. Lewis’ family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
