Patricia Babb Luquette

Patricia (Pat) Babb Luquette quietly passed from this life to the next on June 23, 2022.  Pat was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on March 15, 1934 to Pearl Langla Babb and Albert Babb.  Pat married the love of her life, Leo Luquette, in 1955 and cherished their life together until his passing in 2013. Pat was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was very proud of the accomplishments of her children, Leo Jr. and Karen Hanson. She adored her three grandchildren, Heather Luquette, Connor Hanson, and Courtlyn Hanson. She had fond memories traveling, conversing, fishing, and playing games together.

Pat graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1951, after which she attended Lamar State College of Technology for two years studying what she loved, secretarial science.  She was employed by American General Life Insurance and then by Magnolia Refinery, now Exxon-Mobil, where she held several positions. After 27 years of loyal service, she retired in 1990 as the secretary to the Manager of Employee Relations.

The importance of her faith and religion were demonstrated by her volunteer work at St. Anthony’s Cathedral Basilica through the Bereavement Committee, the Cathedral Lady’s Club, and St. Joseph Altar each year.  Pat also was a volunteer for Some Other Place for over 18 years where she and her husband, Leo, delivered meals each week to the needy.  Pat had a host of friends including her “Girls of ‘51” classmates, with whom she frequently visited and traveled.  These women were her salvation after the loss of her husband in 2013.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, Leo Sr.

Pat is survived by son, Leo Jr. of Monument, Colorado; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Dave Hanson of Coppell, Texas; granddaughters, Heather Luquette of Austin, Texas and Courtlyn Hanson of Dallas, Texas; grandson, Connor Hanson of Dallas, Texas; and a very special daughter-in-law, Anna Luquette of Austin, Texas.

A gathering of Mrs. Luquette’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with her Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2022, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
