Patricia “Sissy” Burleson
Sissy was born Patricia Ann Sellers on June 1st, 1942, in Palestine, Texas and God called her home February 18th, 2026, at 11:29 p.m.
But so much happened in between.
As a young girl, Bennie brought Dorothy and Sissy to Sour Lake where she attended school. She married young and started a family but found herself a single mother. With the help of Bennie and Dorothy, she raised her girls with strength and determination.
There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do. We’ve seen her fix washing machines and flat tires, she would make and mend her own clothes and ours.
She began hunting with Bennie and never lost the desire to be in the woods. Squirrel hunting was her favorite, but she wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to shoot a dear or hog. She could kill ‘em, skin ‘em and cook ‘em.
She could be a tough Mom. She wouldn’t hesitate to slip off her house shoe and pop us on the backside at any age. She was a fair Mom. She would tell us we were making a mistake but never say ‘I told you so’. She raised us to be independent and strong yet caring and generous.
Sissy worked several years for the City of Sour Lake and later served as secretary at First Baptist Church in Sour Lake, where she faithfully supported the church and its ministry.
After a series of strokes, she spent her final years in nursing homes. Even then, her spirit remained strong, and she never lost her sense of humor.
Even with dementia, she never failed to recognize her family and friends and never forgot to tell us ‘Love you more.’
She will be sadly missed by her children, Karie Enderli and her husband, Adam, of Dayton; April Stanton and her husband, Roy, of Sour Lake; Elena Kelley and her husband, Dewayne, of Thicket; grandchildren, Megan Enderli; Aaron Enderli and fiancée, Shelby Eiland; Amanda Allbright and her husband, Ronnie; Elizabeth Diehl and her husband, Robert; Kyle Wagstaff and his wife, Allison; great-grandchildren, Olivia Allbright, Weston Allbright and Riley Diehl; aunt and lifelong best friend Betty Jean Lucas; and numerous extended family, friends, and church family.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband of forty years, Roy Bill Burleson.
Sissy’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Silsbee Oaks Healthcare for taking such loving care of Sissy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The 100 Club of Southeast Texas, P.O. Box 3405, Beaumont, Texas 77704.
