Patrick Paul Baker
Patrick Paul Baker, 78, of Anahuac, died Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Houston Methodist Hospital, Baytown. He was born on March 17, 1943, to Marie Page Baker and Thomas Felix Baker, in Anahuac. Pat was a 1961 graduate of South Park High School. He played golf on a scholarship at Lamar University for 1 year before joining the Marines and serving in Vietnam. During his service in the Marines, he was invited and played at the British Amateur at St. Andrews. He then worked for 10 years in Long Island, New York, at various golf courses. After that, he moved back to southeast Texas and managed multiple golf courses, including opening Airport Driving Range, in Port Arthur, before finally retiring to Anahuac, Texas, where he spent his days fishing or playing golf with his friends. He was known by most as Patty Baker or “The Great Bake”.
Survivors include his daughter, Tricia Picard and her husband, Kevin, of Sour Lake; sister, Mary Jo DiCarlo and her husband, Ronnie, of Anahuac; brother, Richard Baker and his wife, Gwen, of Anahuac; grandchildren, Kamryn Picard, Paige Picard, Coen Picard, Zac Picard, and Fisher Picard; and a host of relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Guy Andrus; mother, Marie Page Baker Andrus; and brother, Phillip Baker.
A gathering of Mr. Baker’s family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Brentwood Country Club, 4201 South Major, Beaumont. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar University Golf Team, 211 Redbird Lane, Beaumont, Texas 77705.

RIP my wonderful friendlier journey began September 1960. It was my first day of high school and we were assigned to the same table in art class. From then on BFF.so many memories as we went thru life. We would loose touch from time to time but always came back.
So sorry I didn’t get to say good-bye. I will always miss you

Pat (Patty) Baker was a golf teammate at South Park and the one we all wanted to tee it up with. It did not matter what level you played the game at, Patty was always gracious to play with us all. He mastered the game at an early age and we all cheered him on to win medalist at every tournament. We did have one tough competitor during those years from Pt. Arthur Thomas Jefferson, Marty Fleckman. Patty went head-to-head with him many times. Prayers for Peace and Comfort from our Lord to Patty’s family and thanks to him for his service to our country. Rest in Peace……….
Patti along with Mr. Hamburg and Ronnie flutter were some of the most important influences up on my life and on my golf game Patty was always welcome to help any junior golfer who asked. He did not suffer fools gladly and if you didn’t wanna work on your game then he was not real interested in helping you
Expected you to work on your game if you wanted to play golf because he believed that excellence was the only acceptable level ofPlay. Now that everyone is physically gifted like Patty was to play golf during skilled but that doesn’t mean that he didn’t expect you to try your very best to do your very best and if you were willing to do that then he would tirelessly work with you in every aspect of your game, especially putting. I still putt like Patty Baker taught me how. That was 50 years ago
Rest in Peace Patty. I know you will get the best Tee Time every time you play.
God rest his soul. Peace has come. And may peace come to the family.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Baker family, friends and loved ones. Had the pleasure of playing, in the same group of golfers, many times. I was usually the one with the highest handicap in the group. Patty was usually the lowest, and the best player. He was fun to be around and was generous with his advise and tips to improve one’s game. He was a classmate of my wife, Judy, at SPHS, and had told her that he was planning to attend their 60th reunion.
May GOD grant Patty salvation, and a eternal life, as a member of the Family of GOD, in Heaven. RIP.

Baker family, please accept my deepest sympathy and prayers during your time of sorrow over the passing of Patty. He was a good friend and we had many a laugh over the years. He will be missed by all who knew him.
