Patsy Nash Mahan

September 24, 1946 - April 29, 2022

Patsy Nash Mahan, 75, of Evadale, died Friday, April 29, 2022.  She was born on September 24, 1946, in Silsbee, to Wilma Woodard Nash and Edwin Crenshaw Nash.

Patsy’s love for her family, friends and community is evident in the way she lived her life. She was an Evadale Rebel through and through. She was very proud of her hometown and enjoyed cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at school events. She spent many years involved with the Evadale Independent School District, her father as a superintendent, her mother as a teacher. She followed their footsteps and worked for EISD until she retired. After retirement she continued to serve the community for almost 20 years at the Evadale Water control and improvement district. Her time spent with friends was precious to her, and included traveling, playing games, or preparing meals for social events. Everything she did was done with love.

Family was everything to Patsy. She was the backbone to her girls and would do anything for her family. You did not have to be born into her family to be considered a family member.  She was quick to welcome you to her table, and once there she loved you as her own.

Patsy’s favorite pastime was spent on the banks of the Angelina River with her family. She will be truly missed and always remembered.

Survivors include her children, Melinda Gibson and her husband, Kenny, of Silsbee, and Melissa Howard and her husband, Chuck, of Evadale; grandchildren, Amber Meredith and her husband, Shawn and Tyrell Gibson, all of Silsbee; and Camilla Howard and Camryn Howard, both of Evadale; great-grandchildren, Bryson Meredith, Jaxon Meredith, and Madison Gibson; and brothers, Mickey Nash and his wife, Judy, of Wildwood; Ronny Nash and his wife, Eileen, of Georgetown; and Mack Nash of Possum Kingdom.  She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Hulen Mahan.

A gathering of Patsy’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  Her interment will follow at Egypt Cemetery, Colmesneil.
