Paul Bounds
Paul Bounds, 75, of Lumberton, died Friday, October 28, 2022. He was born November 22, 1946, in Beeville, to Robbie L. Elliott Bounds and Gail M. Bounds.
Paul worked for Beaumont Fire and Rescue for thirty-three years and Garner Environmental Services for ten years. He taught fire suppression for Lamar University for thirty-five years and Texas A&M Municipal Fire School for thirty-four years.
Paul loved to hunt, it took him from Llano, Texas to Colorado – but most of all he loved his family. He never viewed it as a blended family, he treated all five boys the same. He was born to be a firefighter. He loved his job, going to work, and passing on his knowledge to his students. Paul would always tell them that not everything came from a book.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Nanette Fontenot Bounds; son, Dominic Bounds of Houston; Paul Nathan Bounds of Beaumont; Mark Bounds and his wife, Joy, of Lumberton; Christopher Stevens and his wife, Brandi, of Huntington; Ryan Stevens and his wife, Lindy, of Hudson; grandchildren, Luke Bounds, Landon Bounds, Lane Bounds, Zane Stevens, Chloe Stevens; brother, Elliott Bounds of Beaumont; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Kathleen and Judy Fontenot, both of Baton Rouge.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Meliese Fontenot Nicholas; brother-in-law, Jimmy Fontenot; and sister-in-law, Kay Bounds.
A Rosary for Mr. Bounds will be recited at 5:00 p.m. with a gathering of his family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
Memorial contributions can be made to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, P.O. Drawer 498, Emmitsburg, Maryland 21727 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

RIP BROTHER PAUL. FLY HIGH KEEP WATCH OVER US. You will be missed
Fly high our old friend. You are 1 of the ones that brought frank and me together. I knew you always had my back on scenes and Frank on fires. Nan he loved u so much and he was a great man. RIP BROTHER
I met Paul while he was working a part time job. He got me to apply for the Fire Department. If not for him I would never have met my lovely wife.
You will be missed, Paul.
I’ve known Mr. Paul most of my life. My Dad and he were friends/brother firemen! I always respected Mr. Paul. He loved his boys, and cared about other kids like me! He’s made his last call, your duty is done sir!
Good bye for now, see you again someday. Love and prayers for all the Bounds family.
Our condolences to the family. A honorable public servant who made exemplary contributions to the community & impacted the lives of many firefighters ????????
The Bounds last name has been a part of my fire department family since I can remember. I recall my Dad sharing stories over the years. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
I walked through hell with gasoline underwear on with this man. Loved working together on emergencies as I knew he always had my six, and I knew we were on the same page. With out him now I feel as we have lost a treasure of experience. RIP my brother and God Bless your family.
Much love and many prayers for your family and all of us who will miss you. Thanks for all the memories. RIP buddy.
We worked together over 30 years always enjoyed the fellowship at fire headquarters the good times and the bad times I will miss Paul
Worked with Paul at Sears warehouse. He was working his part time job from the fire dept. Then with him again at the Bmt. Fire Dept.
He was one of the many dedicated leaders in the department.
Paul was always so kind and respectful to me.
We were neighbors in Lumberton Texas.
My husband worked with Paul and always had good things to say about him.
May God comfort his family and friends in this difficult time. ❣️
Sorry to hear of Paul’s passing. He was part of my life at an early age. He was a kind, caring person and always willing to champion the underdog. Welcome Home Old Friend. May our Lord comfort and bless the entire family in their time of sorrow and always….. Amen.
