Philip “Flip” Johnson

Philip Melvin “Flip” Johnson, 72, of Silsbee, died Friday, June 10, 2022, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born May 7, 1950, in Beaumont. Flip was a Vietnam War Army veteran and Bronze Star recipient.

Flip retired as a truck driver after over forty-five years of service. He had traveled all over the United States and Canada. Flip enjoyed cars and racing. He was also an avid Astro’s fan and made many memories attending their games. Flip will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and pawpaw.

Survivors include his wife of forty-five years, Sharon Johnson; sons, Dustin Wayne Johnson and his wife, Rebecca Berry, of Silsbee and Zachery Dwayne Johnson and his wife, Naomi Bowman, of Silsbee; grandchildren, Jaydn, Braelynn, Jake, Aubree, Rylee, Amberee, and Cru; sister, Sherry Cliffe of San Antonio; brother-in-law, Joe Johnson and his wife, Joyce, of Winnie; niece, Amy Mayfield and her husband, Doug, of San Antonio; and will especially be missed by his faithful four legged canine companion, Yogi.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of Mr. Johnson’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Time of Remembrance,  at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His interment, with military honors, will be 2:15 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Houston National Cemetery, 10420 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston.
