R.C. Parigi

August 25, 1947 - September 14, 2021

Rosario Charles “R.C.” Parigi, 74 of Beaumont, died peacefully at his home Tuesday, September 14, 2021. He was born on August 25, 1947 to Sylvina “Luce” Maceo Parigi and Sam Calcedonia Parigi in Beaumont, Texas.

R.C. grew up in a loving, Italian family where life centered around faith, family and food.  He was one of 19 Maceo grandchildren and one of 42 Parigi grandchildren. As a young boy he spent Saturday evenings playing sandlot baseball and football with his Maceo cousins. Sundays after church were reserved for spaghetti, meatballs and fried chicken for lunch with his Parigi cousins. R.C. attended St. Anne Catholic Church and School where he was an altar server and was very proud to have received an Altar Server award. R.C. graduated from Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School in the class of 1965. He briefly attended the University of Texas, and graduated with his B.B.A. in Accounting from Lamar University in 1970.   Before R.C. graduated from Lamar he enlisted in the Army Reserves, where he trained as a cook and took three weeks of airborne training, making thirteen jumps.  Although the majority of R.C.’s accounting career was in private practice, he also worked with Jason’s Deli and Giglio Distributing.

R.C. was an avid outdoorsman, a woodworking craftsman and a self appointed poet.  In his most recent years, R.C. journaled his colorful thoughts and family photos, texting them to those lucky enough to be amongst his contacts. Thank you, R.C. for blessing us early every morning. R.C. had a heart for others and his generous spirit ran deep, always willing to give his time and money to help those in need.  He took great pride in helping the students at St. Anne School and bought lunch for many who may have needed a little extra in their Cat Cafe lunch account.

R.C. was preceded in death by his mother and father; his sister, Concetta Geradine; his former wife and best friend, Sally Edge; and his Godparents, Theresa and J.C. Giglio.

He is survived by his brothers, Joe Parigi and his wife Peggy, Sam C. Parigi, Jr. and his wife Lisa, Gerard Parigi, and his wife, Cheri, and his sister, Connie Prewitt, and her husband, Milt.  He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Travis Parigi, Alison Parigi Edwards, Amy Luce Parigi, Lauri Parigi Welch, Cara Parigi Summers, Courtney Parigi Parent, Sam Gerard Parigi, Patrick Parigi, Douglas Prewitt, Lucy Prewitt Mullins, Nicholas Prewitt and eleven great nieces and great nephews that he dearly loved.  R.C. had an extra special bond with the Jenkins, Hannah, Gates, Roy Thomas and his heart, Mary Ellis.

The family would like to express their appreciation to R.C.’s cardiologist, Dr. Al Brady and his wife and R.C.’s cousin, Rosanne Tortorice Brady who cared for him with utmost professionalism and tender love and care.

A gathering of Mr. Parigi’s family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with his Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 20, 2021, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, Beaumont. His interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont, with a reception following at St. Anne Parish Hall.
