Rachal Lynn Hughes

January 10, 1962 - September 16, 2021

Rachal Lynn Hughes, 59, of Kountze, died Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont. Rachal was born in January 1962 to Ina Jay and Frank Sadler. She was the oldest of three children and loved her brother, Jeff, and sister, Sissy, dearly.

Rachal learned to be a fighter from a very young age. She was diagnosed with a kidney disease at 15 and on October 16th, 1979, at the age of 17, she was blessed with a strong kidney (a Sadler kidney) from her Dad. Throughout this, her mom, InaJay, never left her side… in fact, until Rachal’s very last day on this Earth, she was unselfishly committed to taking care of Rachal, whatever the need.

Rachal was also told she would never have children, but years later was blessed with a beautiful baby girl. She spoke of these blessings regularly and to anyone who would listen!

She was so very proud of her grandchildren and loved being a Mimi.

Rachal was the one you called when there was a puppy who needed extra love (or a squirrel…or a bird… ha!)

She loved her family and friends deeply and wasn’t afraid to show it…..She also wasn’t afraid to tell you when she had a problem ha!

She was a collector of plants… almost to a fault…. Eric covered and hauled many plants inside year after year to keep them from freezing … with only a little grumbling.

And man did she love antiques! One year, there was only a small path through her living room because of all of the antique furniture she bought at a church extravaganza

She was unselfish and would give you the very last penny she had if you needed it and would always put others before herself.

The day she passed, she was surrounded by her family all day, which was a blessing. She fought until the end, and now there’s no more pain.

Rachal left an impact on everyone she met and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Eric Hughes, of Kountze; daughter, Amanda Jones and her husband, Jeffrey, of Kingwood; grandchildren, Kason Jones, Julian Jones, Jensen McKeller, and Justine Rutledge; mother, Ina Sadler, of Vidor; father, Frank Sadler and his wife, Norma, of DeRidder, Louisiana; brother, Jeff Sadler and his wife, Velena, of DeRidder, Louisiana; sister, Celestia Gonzales and her husband, Dwight, of Rospine, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A gathering of Mrs. Hughes’ family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at The Apostolic Church of Beaumont, 3333 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m., at Bivens Cemetery, Merryville, Louisiana.

I was saddened to learn of Rachal’s passing. She was a true friend! She was a strong lady who mastered many situations. She was very thankful for being a survivor – the longest time kidney survivor known. Let the many good memories cheer you. God bless all the family and friends. We will all feel a void for many days.

I am touched so deeply by Rachel’s passing from this life. Even if only a brief encounter, She always left me with a beautiful smile and an encouraging word, interested in my personal well-being, and assuring me of her prayers and love. I share in the deep heart-felt loss with this dear family. My love and prayers are with you.
