Raetta Nobis
Raetta Nobis, 74, of Stowell, died Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital. She was born October 25, 1946, in Yakima, Washington to Colleen Brown Bertrand and Raymond Bertrand.
From a young age Raetta was a care giver. She was tasked with caring for her younger sisters and brother while their father was working at only sixteen years old. Her caring ways continued in life as she worked for Home Health as a care assistant for many years. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, her flowers, and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
Raetta is survived by her sons, Jeffery Vayon and wife, Janet, of Winnie and Zane Vayon and wife, Leigh, of Hamshire; grandchildren, Jamie Landriault and husband, Mac and Chelsea, Abby, Shepherd, Harrison, and Porter Vayon; sisters, Patsy Jenkins and husband, Benny; Virginia Easterling; and Carol Farless; daughter-in-law, Mia Benoit; and sister-in-law, Kathy Bertrand; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Vayon; still-born daughter, Janet Vayon; brother, Dale Bertrand; and nephew, Bennett “Bem” Jenkins.
A gathering of Mrs. Nobis’ family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., with her memorial service at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 22, 2021, at First Baptist Church, 117 Van Ostrand Lane, Stowell. Cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
