Raymond J. “Ray” Pierson
Raymond J. “Ray” Pierson was born on September 4, 1952 to Donald and Mercedes Pierson of Beaumont, Texas. He passed away peacefully at his home in Magnolia on March 29, 2022.
Ray graduated from South Park High School in 1970. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Porter Pierson on March 21, 1981; they had three children; Nikki, Jeremy, and Patrick. His family lived in Hamshire for several years until being transferred to Conroe, Texas at which time they moved to Magnolia.
Ray along with his brothers formed Pierson Bros. Racing and raced for many years. Beginning in 1970 until the late 1980’s, racing in the 6 cylinder class, wing modified class, and for a short time in the sprint class, in and around Southeast Texas and Louisiana.
Ray retired from ExxonMobil in September, 2009 after thirty-eight years of service. Ray and Carolyn have been members of Vintage Chevrolet Club of America for 26 years; since retirement Ray and Carolyn have traveled the country with VCCA on tours driving their cars while sightseeing; occasionally taking with them one of their children or grandchildren. Ray has always had a love of mechanics and cars from a young age.
Though Ray loved his cars, his greatest joy in life was his family.
Ray is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn; mother, Mercedes Pierson of Beaumont; three children; Nikki Pierson of Beaumont; Jeremy Pierson and wife, Amanda, of Hamshire, Texas; and Patrick Pierson of Beaumont; three grandsons whom he was so proud of, Raylen, Carter, and Maison Pierson, all of Hamshire. Four brothers, Donnie (Linda) Pierson of Zavala, Texas, Alfred (Susan) Pierson of Fannett; Mike (Debbie) Pierson of Hamshire; Phillip Pierson of Beaumont; one sister, Mary (Robert) Ferguson of Beaumont; Mother-in-law, Elaine Porter of Beaumont; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Sparky) Porter of Beaumont, and Keith (LeeAnna) Porter of League City, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald F. Pierson.
A gathering of Mr. Pierson’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2022, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

I worked with Ray for many years at ExxonMobil in the Conroe oil field and the Houston Metro area. Ray and Carolyn also assisted with the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) fundraisers. My respect is unbounded for a true friend and coworker
