Rebecca Lee Bloodsworth

March 27, 1957 - July 29, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter and sister, Rebecca Lee Bloodsworth, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the age of 68. She was born on March 27, 1957, in Beaumont, Texas.

Becky is survived by her father, Johnnie J. Bloodsworth; her siblings, Beth French (Bob), James “Bubba” Bloodsworth (Sherrie), Paul Bloodsworth (Becki), Stephen Bloodsworth, Sarah Milstead (Mark), and Michael Bloodsworth. She also leaves behind 13 nieces and nephews and 10 grand-nieces and grand-nephews.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Bloodsworth.

Becky grew up in Beaumontattending local schools and graduating from Forest Park High School in 1975, excelling in both academics and sports. She went on to attend Lamar University in Beaumont, where she studied psychology and education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education. For many years, she worked teaching and mentoring emotionally and behaviorally challenged youth in the Texas Department of Juvenile Criminal Justice System in Galveston, Texas. While she never had children of her own, she dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of children most in need of love and stability.

Becky had a love for the coast, which she often called her “Happy Place.” Growing up spending summers at Crystal Beach in our family beach house are among our fondest shared memories. Long walks on the beach collecting shells, late-night card games, fishing and crabbing, and sunbathing were all the best of times. It was there, on those lazy, hot August days, that she developed a fondness for reading—a hobby she continued until her last day. She always preferred a physical book in her hands over e-readers and thus collected a large library of books. Another somewhat quirky passion Becky had was a fondness for hippopotamuses. She amassed quite a collection of figurines, artwork, t-shirts, and more. Her nieces and nephews, as well as her grand-nieces and grand-nephews, can attest to the unique “hippo” gifts she gave for birthdays and Christmases—cherished reminders of her deep love.

Becky faced many health challenges in the last 20+ years of her life. She valiantly battled and endured as her health deteriorated. We want to thank her team of doctors for their commitment to her care and comfort.

Becky was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, and we will carry her love in our hearts. A private memorial will be held in October. If you wish to make a donation in her memory, Amelia Baptist Church, 8055 Brighton Street, Beaumont, Texas 77707 is the family church; however, any charity of your choosing would be a wonderful remembrance.

Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
