Reverend Richard Anthony Vaughan
On Friday, January 24, 2025, Pastor Richard Anthony Vaughan, a “General in the Army of God” was promoted to a highest rank to meet his Commander and Chief, his Lord, Jesus Christ of the Kingdom of God. In the year of 1963, the “Cowboy” stepped off the horse, hung up the reins, threw aside all earthly nets and followed Jesus until his last breath. His passion was to bring the “Good News” of the gospel of Jesus Christ to Southeast Texas and the World.
Behind the cowboy was a girl he loved all his life, “Annette”. Richard sold a horse because it would not ride double. From fifteen years old until his last breath Richard Vaughan adored “Annette”. Richard often said to his daughters, “there is no movie star on this planet who is as beautiful as your mama”. There was no Richard without Annette. The same passion for Christ was how he loved one woman.
Richard lived as in Thessalonians 5:19 “Do not put out the Spirit’s fire”. His passion for the lost and the hurting without Christ never smoldered. One of the greatest deep longings of Pastor Vaughan in older age was his concern of watered down evangelism and who would take his place and other’s that proceeded him such as Arthur Blessed, etc., Billy Graham. There must be a new Jesus revolution in our nation for the lost, the derelicts, atheist, the rich, the poor, the unpopular the popular, the infidel even the grandmother sitting on a pew. Richard Vaughan’s burden as he aged was wanting opportunities for young men and women to answer the sacred call and surrender their lives for the furtherance of the gospel. His Motto was “No Retreat, No regret, No remorse”.
If you are reading this obituary today, he would ask you, “Have you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If you are unsure and if you just don’t know then right now bow your head and say this prayer with me”.
First “I REALIZE” I have sinned against God.
Second: I Choose to REPENT” of all my sins.
Third “I RECEIVE” Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior into my heart and believe upon his name.
Jesus said “He/she that cometh to me I will no wise cast out”. You can know him, know that you are saved, know if you died you will go to heaven. Share that with others the “good news” it so important we be witnesses to others. Then he would continue saying “I believe that God is going to do great things in your life.”
If you made that decision and would like some information sent to you please write a letter to 1045 Redwood, Kountze, Texas 77625 or email at victorialainelaw@gmail.com, if not, please find a good local bible believing church. Get involved in a good church you feel at home in and drop your nets and find a place you can serve.

Berlinda Roy Mouton
A great man of God whom I am thankful to have met. His healing prayers for my physical afflictions brought me through major surgery with complete recovery. My wife Rita and I have been truly blessed by this great man of God and friend.
Pastor Vaughan will forever hold a special place in my heart. It is because of his teachings that I became a Christian and have the Rock upon which I stand today.
I still remember him frequently saying from the pulpit, “Don’t just believe what I preach. Get in the Word and study it for yourself.”
Such a well respected man. You were always so nice to my family and I…PawPaw Thank you.
I know when you got to Heaven… Jesus said to you. “Well done”.
Rest easy. Rest in paradise.

Victoria, Brian and family, our heartfelt celebrations for your dad’s graduation. What a legacy he leaves.
This man was a LIGHTHOUSE FOR JESUS to 1000s of families of in southeast Texas.
I first met this Pastor Vaughan in a recovery unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital. I was 9 years old and my sister Kathy Brown-Gray called this man in the middle of the night on behalf of my father who was detoxing.
He led my father J. D. Brown to the Jesus Christ in that hospital room saving not only him but having the opportunity to win our entire family to Christ over the next 20 years.
This fine gentleman was the turning point in our family and many others by just being a willing soul.
Thank you, Pastor Vaughan for instilling in so many the ability to be a Christian during the darkest of times only to have victory at the end.
Robert
Enough can not be said to honor this man of God. It was an honor to serve and sit under his anointing. What a fire he passed on to others to win souls and follow your calling.
He was the preacher at fletcher when there was a revival there the night I accepted Christ as my Saviour at the age of sixteen. Good man of God.
Wonderful man. Loved Jesus. Loved people. Loved witnessing.
We miss people when they are gone and wish we would have told them how they made a difference in our life. 🥹 I attended Fletcher for quite awhile and am thankful for Pastor Vaughan and his family. God bless you.
Having served under Pastor for seven years I look at those years in Fletcher as some of the most influential years of my life. The morning I walked in the front door changed my spiritual life forever. Three things Pastor instilled in me that remain until this day a hunger for more of Jesus, for souls to be saved and for deep worship. He taught me how to lead someone to Christ.. He was the most anointed Evangelist I have ever listened to. He could teach on prayer give an invitation and have ten people saved. The result of his ministry is being carried on into the third and fourth generations . God bless you Sister Annette, Victoria, and Carla
Our condolences to the family. Pastor Vaughan was a man of great faith. Many have come to know the lord in his ministry. He will truly be missed.
It was my honor and a true blessing to work with Pastor Vaughan for many years. Many excepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior and the gift of the anointing of the Holy Spirit under his ministry. Heaven is rejoicing and the Angels are singing. To God Be The Glory our Pastor has completed his mission.
