Richard Dean Jansky
Richard Dean Jansky, 70, of Buna, Texas, originally from Taylor, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, with his family by his side. He battled pancreatic cancer for the past 4 months since his diagnosis in February.
He was born on March 6,1955 in Taylor. Richard grew up in the area and graduated from Thrall High School. He worked for Taylor Butane Company (TBC) for forty-seven years with delivery of propane to the community, greatly enjoying his customers. Richard was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall, where he served on the Church Council, Food Pantry, and Audio Video teams. He also served on the Thrall ISD School Board for two terms.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Garla Vitek Jansky; children, Brian and wife, Emily, of Katy; and Laurie Landry and husband. Trace, of Buna; one granddaughter, Addison Jansky; siblings, Johnnie Janksy and wife, Janis; Daniel Jansky and wife, Glenda; and Mary Ann Zucknick and husband, David; all of Taylor; brother-in-law, Rev. Bobby Vitek and wife, Tammy, of Fredericksburg; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Suchomel Jansky and John P. Jansky; and in-laws, Janet Peschel Vitek and Robert L. Vitek.
He enjoyed traveling to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, enjoying cruises, model trains, tractors, firearms, working on different projects with Garla, and his cat, Twizzler.
The family would like to thank the Olive Branch/Heart to Heart Hospice Care team especially nurses Kayla, Sheri, Joyce; and Casita De Manuel‘s owners and staff for providing care during his stay.
Mr. Jansky’s cremation arrangements are being handled by Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.
A Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church, 409 Main Street, Thrall, with a reception to follow. His ashes will be placed in Calvery Cemetery in Granger, Texas at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 409 Main Street, Thrall, Texas 76578, or a contribution may be made to a charity of your choice.
