Richard Dewey Y’Barbo

March 13, 1930 - April 29, 2025

Richard Dewey Y’Barbo, 95, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, April 29, 2025. He was born on March 13, 1930, to Novie Y’Barbo and Ellis Y’Barbo, in Cherry Grove, Texas.

Richard enlisted in the Merchant Marines for 2 years. When he left the Merchant Marines, they had been taken over by the Coast Guards. He was very proud of the service he provided.

Richard loved to drive which led him to work for many trucking companies. He worked for Herrin Trucking for five years. The then went to Red Ball Motor Freight and worked there for thirty years. Roadway acquired Red Ball, and he worked for them for five years then retired. He was not through driving though. He drove the tour bus for Silsbee Tours for nine years. He then went on to drive for Silsbee ISD for sixteen years. He could not always remember the students’ names so he would lovingly call them “George”. He also worked for Broussard’s Mortuary for nine years.

Richard loved life, but more than that he loved his wife Bobbie Lou. They were married for 68 years. He loved his family with all his heart.

Survivors include his daughter, Polly Hein; son, Ricky Y’Barbo; brother, Charles Y’Barbo; grandchildren, Joseph Richard, Brian Richard and his wife, Angela; Edward Hein and his wife, Charity; Chad Hein and his wife, Chrystal; Sabrina Bagley, Courtney Mauricio and her husband, Mario; and Matthew Y’Barbo; great-grandchildren, Logan and Justin Richard; Thomas, Landon and Mason Hein; William, Wesley, Wyatt and Adalynn Bagley; Jaxson, Jacob, Macy, and Abraham Mauricio; great-great-grandchildren, Elliott Clements; and Jetson and Hayes Hein; several nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Beverly, Adrianna, Tammy, Melitta, Dale and Mike that were always there for him.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bobbie Lou; daughter, Barbara Y’Barbo Richard; daughter-in-law, Liz Y’Barbo; sister Darlene Y’Barbo Kelsher; brothers Thomas Y’Barbo, and Roy Dennis Y’Barbo.

He will be greatly missed by all

A gathering of Mr. Y’Barbo’s family and friends will begin 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 3, 2025, at First Pentecostal Church, 1420 North 5th Street, Silsbee. His interment will follow at Hardin Memorial Park, Silsbee, under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.

    I remember Bro Y BarBo working at Johnny Odoms station on the corner of Roosevelt Dr.I would come walking by at 9 or 10 yrs of age.He would give me bubble gum. He was always just so nice to me.I came home two yrs ago got to see him. I am so thankful. I know he will be missed by all who knew him.Praying for the family
