Richard Duane Drake

Richard Duane Drake, 81, passed away on February 27, 2025, in Port Arthur, Texas.

Born on August 4, 1943, in South Haven, Michigan, Richard built a long and successful career in food service management. His creative and passionate spirit led him to ventures in both photography and restaurant ownership.

Richard had a deep love for photography, capturing the world through his lens with an artist’s eye. His natural curiosity drove him to explore new perspectives and experiences, always seeking to learn and grow.

However, nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his beloved wife, Rita, and their family gatherings. Richard and Rita’s bond was one of unwavering devotion, and his love for her remained the defining part of his life.  Dick also deeply loved his two cats, Toot and Pixie.

Dick and Rita were blessed to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary together in 2024.

He is survived by his siblings, Michael (Annette) Drake, Robert (Michelle Oxman) Drake, Kenneth (Kay) Drake, and Diana (Alexander/Sandy) Teliak; children, Amy Drake, Adam (Lisa) Drake, Tracy Ray, Jerod (Katie) Lea, Lory Tinney, and Michael Laws; grandchildren, Darryan Fino, Bryson Fino, Richard Lea, Liam Lea, Tyler Ray, Morgan Drake, and Trevor Drake.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Rita; his parents, John Edwin Drake and Myrtle Fern Drake (Crumb); brothers, Joseph Drake and Gerald Drake and wife, Linda.

A gathering of Mr. Drake’s family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m., with his memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12^th Street, Nederland. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

Richard’s memory will live on through the lives he touched and the moments he captured through his lens. May those who knew him find comfort in remembering the love and passion he shared with the world.
