Robert E. Dubose, Jr.
Robert E. Dubose, Jr., 81, of Winnie, died July 16, 2024. He was born August 10, 1942, to Jeanette and Robert Dubose, Sr. in Crowley, Louisiana.
He was the oldest of four children. Robert was the owner and operator of Gulf Coast Automotive in Winnie, Texas for 54 years. He loved his business and being able to help the farmers, ranchers and community members. Over the years “the store” became a morning meeting ground with coffee and donuts. Robert so enjoyed the time in his store with friends and customers alike. He also enjoyed traveling. He and wife Susie traveled to all 50 states in their 38 years together. Robert loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a long-time member of many car clubs and even started the antique car show that still goes on today at the Texas Rice Festival.
The Texas Historical Commission and the Chambers County Historical Commission present the Texas Treasure Business Award to Gulf Coast Automotive. Family owned and operated in Texas since 1971.
Robert is survived by his children, Polly Clement and husband, Glynn, Sharon Champagne, Robert “Bob” Dubose III and wife, Lisa, Russ Oxford, Tiffany Wozniewski, Dan Jones and wife, Jingle; Grandchildren, Jacqueline Dunson and husband, Travis, Devan Peckham and husband, Hayes, Katlyn Briggs and husband, Kyle, Keeley Oxford, Luca Wozniewski, Shelly Abram, Luke Clement, Chad Devillier and his wife, Cassie; thirteen great grandchildren; brother, Leroy Dubose and wife, Harriett; sister, Jan Hasson and husband, Vester; nieces and nephews and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Susie Dubose; brother, Mitchell Dubose ;and son in law, Cliff Champagne.
A gathering of Mr. Dubose’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His graveside service will be held at 10:00a.m., Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

I always loved doing buisness with Robert. He was a great guy I will surely miss.
Robert was one of the kindest men on the Earth and we’re so grateful to have called him a friend. Peace be with you in this sorrowful time.

Trish and I visited Robert’s store a few times. Denver Poland and Robert were the best of friends. Denver was my father in law. I know all of the Stories.
I will miss Robert. He was a generous and good man who never failed to help people when he could.
