Robert G. “Bob” Quinn
Robert G. “Bob” Quinn, 80, of Beaumont, died Monday, September 16, 2024. He was born on November 2, 1943, in Beaumont to Harriet Hudson and Benjamin Edmund Quinn, Jr.
Bob was a graduate of Beaumont High School and Lamar University. His varied business interests eventually inspired him to obtain a Master’s Degree from the SW Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.
Bob met his true love Barbara at a dance in grade school, and they were together for the rest of his life. They were married for 60 years. He was a devoted father and grandfather, as well as a true renaissance man. Bob raced sports cars and dragsters. He was a gourmet chef, a voracious reader, and a master modeler who turned boxes of wood and string into museum worthy works of art. He was an avid sportsman, fishing the Gulf from the shallows to deep offshore. Bob’s lifelong love of wingshooting began with bagging local ducks and dove and led him to frequent shooting trips in South America and Europe, accompanied by his sons and later his grandchildren.
He was a dedicated philanthropist, supporting many charitable organizations both locally and nationally. His appreciation of the arts and passion for arts education led to his stewardship in the creation of the Art Museum of Southeast Texas as well as a continued commitment to its ongoing success.
Bob’s greatest legacy is the memories he left behind with those who loved him for his wit, humor, warmth, loyalty and generosity.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Nees Quinn; children, Robert Graham Quinn, Jr. and his wife, Terry Richards Quinn, of Austin, and Garrett Sullivan Quinn and his wife, Suzanne Mauze Quinn, of Austin; grandchildren, Robert, Hudson, Lillian and Vivian; brothers, Benjamin Edmund Quinn III and Patrick James Quinn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Hudson Quinn; and granddaughter, Frances Elizabeth Quinn.
Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705, or the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, 500 Main Street, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
A Celebration of Life for Bob will be held at a later date. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
Barbara, Gerald and I were sorry to learn of Bob’s passing. Please know you are in our prayers.
Barbara I am so sorry to hear about Bob. Sending prayers to you and yours.
I hunted the dove bird with Bobby in Eagle Pass, Texas, on 2 occasions in the early 2000’s. He was a great shooter and would let you know that as well.
We had many laughs in Eagle Pass, along with Mark Whitworth (my brother), Roanne Ruddy, and Scot “The Moon Dog” Sheldon. Scot would end up becoming a greeter at the Beaumont Walmart, where he still works to this day.
Bob Quinn was a great man.
Bob Quinn was a great Texan.
Bob Quinn was a great American.
Bob and I go back as far as the second grade. I’ll always cherish the times together with him and Eddie Manion and guys in our neighborhood. Bob and Barbara were inseparable, which is obvious since they were married 60 years. Barbara, I pray for you and wish you the best in your memories of my good friend.
I was saddened to hear of Bobs passing. He was a true and faithful friend. He lived a full life on his own terms to the very end. I cherish the times I spent with him. He left all of us better off for having shared a part of his life. Godspeed, Bob. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
Barbara – love to you. I am so sorry.

My dear friend Barbara,
So sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. Enjoyed my visits with him, especially the hunting stories he shared with me.
He will be missed.
Rest in peace my friend.
Barbara, I’m incredibly saddened about the passing of Bob. Our friendship goes back to 1950 and the the great fun we shared as little girls. It was always Barbara and Bob once you began dating at BHS. You were a example of a couple when two becomes one. Cherish your wonderful memories, I’m sending an abundance of love to you and your family.
Dear Barbara,
Linda and I will keep you and your loved ones in our prayers as you all move forward with your lives.
I have many great memories of the years I have known and worked with you, Bob and the boys. I always considered all four of you and your Mom as friends while we worked together maintaining and creating so many beautiful, and practical improvements to your fabulous home and property. Linda and I were 35 when we first met you and Bob. It’s hard to believe fifty years have flown by in what seems like a short períod..
Please let us know if there’s anything we can do for you and the boys.
Much love, Linda and Robert Johnson
