Robert Dupree Sawyer

September 20, 1930 - August 7, 2021

Robert Dupree Sawyer, 90, of Nederland, died Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Forever Young Home, Groves. He was born September 20, 1930, in Houston, to Jeanne Fuselier Sawyer and Edson B. Sawyer, Sr.

Robert was a United States Navy veteran and retired from Neches Butane after forty years of service. He was a faithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Nederland and was a member of the local Knights of Columbus. Robert also served in the Nederland City Council and the Economic Development Corporation for over thirty years and was a member of the American Legion for over fifty years.

Survivors include his daughters, Andrea Lyn Weber and husband, Wilson, of Dripping Springs; Paula Ranee Sawyer, of Austin; and Robin Ann Sawyer, of Nederland; grandchildren, Bethany Weber; Kristin Tudor and husband, Jake; Alex Weber; Travis, Cody, and Paige Youngren; his granddogs, Jake; Dixie; Scout; Blu; Pepper; Jax; Gage; Sammie; and Princess; and many extended family members and friends.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Forever Young and his hospice nurse, Tasha Broom.

He is preceded in death by his wife of forty-nine years, Lois Marie Sawyer; parents, Jeanne and Edson Sawyer; three brothers; and grandson, Lukas Youngren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland. His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.

Memorial contributions may be submitted to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601

I'm so sorry. Scott died at the age of 60 all eat up with Cancer. I remarried and moved to Sour Lake.. I divorced and moved to the Woodlands and then to Florida and now I'm back in Nederland. I have thought of the family all the time. I just happened to see this. After my last marriage I never have gotten remarried and I live by myself and doing great. I am now 68 years old I do wish someone would call me and get in touch with me. I loved you all just like my own family. My number is 409-313-7339. I would love to hear from any if y'all. I was wondering about your mom. I'm so very sorry for the loss if your parents, and I know they are not in pain anymore. They were good people and taught all if y'all to be good people also. I am very sorry to here of Bobby’s passing we went back a long ways Louis was my first cousin so I called Bobby course he got a kick out of it and also liked li I drank a many beers with him and watched him play the poker machines he was pretty lucky I’ll miss those good times god bless you guys
