Robert Wesley Dale
Robert Wesley Dale, 88, of Winnie, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025. He was born to Eva Dell Warren Dale and John Wesley Dale on September 12, 1936 in Shreveport, Louisiana weighing a little over two pounds. His mom always said it was a miracle that he lived.
Robert started school in Louisiana but moved to Winnie when he was about 6 years old. He graduated from East Chambers High School in 1954. He played multiple sports and was voted Most Handsome during those years. He made lifelong friends and met the mother of his children, Rosemary McAdams Dale, while attending ECC. After a year at Sam Houston State University, Robert served in the United States Army from August 1955 to August 1957. During this time he was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. He played quarterback and punter for Army in football. His team won the North American Military Championship during this time. He also played catcher for the Army baseball team. Robert has a long career in the Union. He was a member of Local 195 for 63 years where he served in several leadership roles. Robert was elected to serve on the Examining Board and the Executive Board. He taught many young men as an instructor in the apprentice school. He was an excellent welder and pipefitter. Robert was a member of the First United Methodist Church when he was growing up. Robert knew the Lord as his Savior and went on a mission trip overseas during his adulthood. During his last years at the assisted living center in Harlingen, the workers videoed him praying for one of the workers.
Robert loved to fish, golf, play harmonica, and dance. He also enjoyed many years of coon hunting with his dad, brothers, and friends. He adored his prize winning treeing Walker dog, Frank. Many trophies were won at hunting competitions.
He is survived by his daughters, Becky (Kathleen Hzozek) Dale, Kellie (Frank) Rogers, and Patti (Robbie) Von Tunglen; grandchildren, Justan (Brent) Anderson, Jessica Norris, Jara (Bjourn) Garnett, Jase (Rikki) Vanya, Jaxon Vanya, Tanner (Cassie) Dale, Wesley (Kim) Dorsett, Brooks (Kelly) Dorsett, and Hunter (Mandy) Dorsett; great-grandchildren, Paityn Turner, Brylie Anderson, Nathan Norris, Bostan Anderson, Fischer Vanya, Bren Garnett, AJ Lake, Foster Vanya, Caden Dorsett, Asher Dorsett, Carter Dorsett, and Walker Dorsett; brother, Mickey (Carolyn) Dale; sister, Tami (Lynn) Johnson; and sister-in-law, Paula Dale.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Lee Dale; son, Robert Wesley Dale, Jr.; brother, Charles (Charlie) Dale; sister-on-law, Deborah Dale and parents, John Wesley (J.W) Dale and Eva Dell Warren Dale.
A gathering of Mr. Dale’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

So sorry to hear about Robert. Did not know him well but growing up with Tami and Patti I had his acquaintance. Always very nice to me and always called me by name. So very sorry for the families loss.
