Roger Evans

June 15, 1944 - December 7, 2021

Roger Evans, 77, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Pelican Bay Assisted Living, Beaumont. He was born on June 15, 1944, to Lillian Bourriague Evans and J.D. Evans, in Corpus Christi.

Roger was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed dancing to country music and politics. Roger was a member of the Texas National Movement. He loved his family and will be remembered as a loving grandfather and a friend to all.

Survivors include his granddaughter, Jillian Champagne of Kountze; grandson, Jacob Wright; his family, Russell and Rhonda Champagne of Kountze; Judy Barnard of Lumberton; and Clarence and Brenda Greer of Mesquite; and numerous cousins, aunts, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of over ten years, Kathy Evans; and brother, Jerry Evans.

A gathering of Mr. Evans’ family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 13, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Bleakwood Cemetery, Bleakwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 6055 South Loop East, Houston, Texas 77087.

    My cousin Roger will be missed. He stopped by to visit us every time he was up in Newton taking care of business. He never missed an opportunity to campaign for the Texas Nationalist Movement.

    I adored my friend Roger. He was as good a friend as you could ever have in your life. And boy could he dance!! I am glad he is comfortable now and I look forward to being with him in heaven some day. Meanwhile I look forward to his service on next Monday.
