Ronald Charles “Ronnie” Benoit
Ronald Charles “Ronnie” Benoit, 76, of China, died Sunday, June 19, 2022. He was born on November 14, 1945, to Beulah Benton Belile Benoit and Lawrence Benoit, in Beaumont.
Ronnie was a lifetime rice farmer, Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4 for many years, insurance agent, and pillar in his community. He loved hunting and fishing, coaching basketball, was an avid water-skier in his youth and held records for jumping, was an ag pilot and flew crop dusters, and enjoyed skeet and trap shooting. Ronnie was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and everyone’s “Grumpy”.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Judi Johnston Benoit; daughter, Carol Joy Born and her husband, Kevin, of Beaumont; son, Chuck Benoit and his wife, Theresa, of China; grandchildren, Laura Leigh and her husband, James, Anna and her fiancé, Alex, William, and Emma; great-granddaughter, Lily; three bonus grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, sister and brother-in-law, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard and Larry Benoit.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Benoit will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 245 West Highway 90, China, with a gathering of his family and friends to follow in the parish hall. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

I am grateful to have known such a kind and considerate person. Thank you Mr. Ronnie for always giving me hope that good people did exist in this world. Ronnie was a good friend and we work insurance claims with him, enjoyed our time with him. I pray his family will find peace.
Judi and your family have been blessed with an amazing man for 57 years, and now with the blessings of God, Ronnie will be with all of you in your hearts in this next journey of your life. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, we love you, Dwight and Candy Burke.
It is with great sadness that we learned of Ronnie’s passing and we send our deepest sympathies to Judi and all of the Benoit family. We feel very honored to have known him and we hope that the love and support of the family and their deep faith, will ease the pain of his loss.
We knew Ronnie and Judi through Judi’s brother Rick Johnston who married my sister Cathy. Ronnie and Rick were each others’ ‘Best Man” at their weddings! We love reconnecting with Ronnie and Judi whenever we attend Johnston family reunions and events. Extended family was important to Ronnie, and he always kindly welcomed us into his circle. We are so sorry to hear that he is no longer with us and we know that he will be deeply missed by his family and community.

Ronnie and Judy were lifelong friends and I still remember going swimming at Ronnie’s parents house. Good memories and he will be greatly missed.
