Ronald G. Brown
Ronald Gene Brown, 86 of Orangefield, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Ronnie was born May 18, 1938, to Rhoneta Faye MacDonald and Charles Hiram Brown.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Marilyn Brown; sons Michael Brown, Daryl Brown and life-partner Luci Sheppard, and Ron Brown and his wife Patricia; grandchildren Andrew Brown, Rebekah Kostelak and husband Tom; Daniel Brown; Caleb Brown and wife Tori; Lisa Brown and husband Elliott Cox; Matthew Brown; and Megan Brozek and husband Dillon; great-grandchildren, Thea and Ezra Kostelak; brother, Mack Brown and wife Linda; and sister Rita Harris and husband Tom. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Pat Perkins.
Ronnie was accepted to Lamar University on a football scholarship in 1956 and graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He went to work at Jefferson Chemical and later became global Senior Vice President of Operations for Texaco Chemical. Ronnie had a long and successful career, made many life-long friends and retired at the age of fifty-five.
Ronnie will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, playing golf and gardening. Ronnie loved to play Forty-two, Bridge, Poker with his family and friends. Ronnie was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan.
One of Ronnie’s favorite pastimes was visiting Rincon Lodge on the King Ranch, sitting by the campfire smoking cigars and telling jokes and tall tales with his family and friends.
Ronnie was a generous, kind, witty man, who deeply loved his family and friends. Ronnie will forever be missed but always remembered by those he left behind.
A gathering of Ronnie’s family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m. with his funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment to follow at Oak Bluff Cemetery.
