Ronald “Ronnie” L. Murrell

April 28, 1945 - April 7, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ronald “Ronnie” L. Murrell, who departed peacefully on April 7, 2025, in Winnie, Texas. He was born on April 28, 1945, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the first of seven children, born to J Wayne Murrell and Lucy F. Murrell.

Mr. Murrell was a devoted farmer, working with rice and soybeans for fifty plus years. He worked tirelessly with the St. Louis Catholic Church booth and the animal show barn at the Texas Rice Festival.

Mr. Murrell is survived by his wife, Renee Bouse Murrell; daughters, Katy Bouse, Blythe Bouse, and Rachel Bouse; and Sheri and Juan Porras, Caitlyn and Justin Porras, Caryn and Tim Thomas, Ava and Jaxon Thomas. He is also survived by his siblings, Susan Murrell, David Murrell and family, Edward Murrell and family, and Michael Murrell and family.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Murrell; his parents, J Wayne and Lucy; and his brothers, Charlie and Louie Murrell.

A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of Mr. Murrell’s family and friends to follow until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2025, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, with his interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Murrell’s honor may be made to The University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486.
