December 21, 1949 - March 16, 2023

Rosalie Babin, 73, of Beaumont, died Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Christus Southeast Texas-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on December 21, 1949, to Phyllis Marie Sachitano Palumbo and Anthony Joseph Palumbo.

Rosalie’s father owned Mr. Hotdog, a well-known eatery in Beaumont. She attended Kelly High School and Lamar University, where she received a B.A. in History. Rosalie worked as a teacher earlier in her life and retired from the City of Beaumont as a supervisor for the parks and recreations department.

Rosalie was a member of St Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church and was a very welcoming person who made many friends. Raising her children and providing for them meant everything to her. She had a love/hate relationship with watching the Dallas Cowboys football games. The greatest day of her life was seeing her grandchildren being born and watching The Cowboys win the Superbowl. Rosalie loved spending every summer at Crystal Beach with her family and always looked forward to it. She loved to BBQ and enjoyed being outdoors.

When she talked to her family or answered the phone she would always say “hey there kiddo”. She will be remembered for loving her family, being funny, a hardworker, and her love for chocolate and Dr. Pepper.

She is survived by her son, Bj Babin and his wife, Nikia Babin, of Richmond, Texas; grandchildren, Garrett Babin and Emily Babin both of Richmond, Texas; Mia Gish of Hemphill, Texas; and sister, Carol Aaron.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Shelly Babin and her sister, JoAnne Collmar.

Your mom was truly one of my best friends. She always made me laugh. She always welcomed me into her life and home. She loved her family and friends like there was no one more important. She was and still is a part of my heart. Someone to vent and cry to and with. I miss hearing, “Hey kiddo.” I am sorry for your loss. She was the best of the best!

    Ernie Vincent says:

I met Rosalie in the 60’s at KHS. She was a unique and true friend over the decades. She will be missed.

    Wally Mathews says:

At this difficult time, hold her memories close and she will always be with you.
