Rose Marie Dugue Casteel Clapp

Rose Marie Dugue Casteel Clapp, 96, of China, Texas, died Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Silsbee Oaks Nursing Home, Silsbee.

She was born September 30, 1928, in Beaumont, Texas, to Victoria Cecilia Dugue and Walter Joseph Dugue. Rose earned her degree at an early age while attending Lamar University in Beaumont and worked as a secretary throughout her lifetime. Rose retired from the City of Vidor Municipal Division at Orange County, when she was 70 years of age!

Survivors include her sons, Buddy Lee Casteel of Leakey, Texas; Glen Edwin (Eddie) Casteel and his wife, Lynda, of Silsbee, Texas: daughter, Vicki Lyn Allen and her husband, Lester, of Schertz, Texas; Randy George Casteel and his wife, Kiki, of China, Texas; along with her youngest son, Mark William Clapp and his wife, Sandy, of Willis, Texas; grandchildren, Deonna, Ryan, Jeffery, Dana, Ashli, Jaret, Glenn, Michelle and Stephanie, Chelsea, Savannah, and Kaylie; and 12 great-grandchildren as well as 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Rose is preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn Edmund Casteel; second husband, Kenneth Pratt Clapp; brothers, Oswald A. (Tony/Brother) Dugue and Lee Joseph Dugue; sisters, Lillian C. Copeland, Sarah R. Hale, and Adele (DeeDee) LeBlanc; granddaughter, Brittany Casteel;  grandson, Christopher Allen; and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Casteel.

She leaves a profound legacy of love and kindness among her family and friends and all will be eternally grateful for her influence in our lives.

A gathering of Mrs. Clapp’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

    Aunt Rosie was a character. Will never forget her visit with my mom, aunt Nuna (Lillian) and my sister Barbara in Austin many years ago. We had fun laughing at a movies, and recalling family events and sitting on my patio having tea. I loved her and know you will be forever missing her. Love to all, cousin Madelyn
